Skillet Green Beans by Monica
These Skillet Green Beans have next-level flavor because they are sautéed in Bacon Up® Bacon Grease instead of other cooking oils. I cook them until they are crisp-tender and my family loves how the Bacon Up takes this classic vegetable side dish up a notch!
Equipment
- Large skillet (You probably know, I prefer cast iron!)
Ingredients
- 3 Tbsp Bacon Up® Bacon Grease
- 2-3 small Shallots sliced or roughly chopped
- 2 pounds Fresh Green Beans washed and trimmed
- 2-3 cloves Garlic minced
- 2 tsp Kosher salt
- Black pepper to taste
- 1/2 tsp Garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp Onion powder
- 1/2 tsp Crushed red pepper (more or less to taste, depending on how hot you'd like it)
Instructions
- In a large skillet, over medium heat, melt 3 tbsp of Bacon Up.
- Add the shallots and cook 2-3 minutes.
- Add the green beans to the skillet, then stir in the minced garlic, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and crushed red pepper.
- Sauté the beans until tender, about 7-8 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Notes
We love crisp-tender, but if you prefer old-style, softer green beans, use this same recipe, but cook them in a crockpot and cook down to your desired texture.
